The Hayden Star USA is a tribute to Nicky Hayden, 2006 MotoGP world champion and an American icon of the paddock. Stars, stripes, and patriotic colors—a design that has become iconic.

The VZ-RAM is the open-face helmet that Arai chooses for its factory riders. Handmade in Japan, it combines track-proven technology with the freedom of an open design meant for everyday riding.

Highlights
Hand-made shell
Each shell is assembled by hand in Japan, layer by layer. Stiffer and lighter than a standard shell, it is impossible to replicate in mass production.
Rounded profile for better protection
Smooth outer surface with no edges. In the event of a fall, the helmet slides and dissipates the impact instead of snagging and transferring it to your neck.
Wide-angle long visor
Longer than a standard open-face visor to better protect the lower face. It can be swapped in seconds without tools, whether clear or tinted depending on the weather.
Efficient ventilation at all speeds
5 air inlets and 6 outlets ensure active circulation even at low city speeds. Less heat, less fogging.

Frequently asked questions
How do I choose my size?+

Measure the circumference of your head 2 cm above the eyebrows. The VZ-RAM has an intermediate oval fit, which suits most European head shapes. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger size and allow a few weeks for the foam to adapt to your shape.

What is the lifespan of an Arai helmet?+

Arai recommends replacing your helmet after 5 years of use, even without visible damage. The interior foam and shell materials degrade over time due to sweat and UV rays. In case of a fall, even a light one, replace it immediately.

Are visors interchangeable between VZ and SZ ranges?+

The VZ-RAM visor is compatible only with helmets that share the same mounting system, called VAS-Z. Compatible models are the Arai SZ-R VAS and the Arai SZ-R EVO (ECE 22.06 standard). Older generations like the SZ-Ram 4 are not compatible.

Can this helmet be used with glasses?+

Yes, the interior of the VZ-RAM is designed to accommodate eyeglass frames without pressure or discomfort. Spaces are provided for this purpose in the interior foam.
