The Pista GP R Rossi Winter Test 2019: the livery from the Sepang winter tests, just before Valentino’s last great season.

Every winter, Rossi fans eagerly await photos from pre-season testing to discover the new Winter Test livery. The 2019 version is particularly meaningful: it precedes a season that Valentino approached with the intact ambition of a rider who never resigned himself to a secondary role. The Pista GP R features the same carbon shell as the Pista GP RR used in competition, with ECE 22.06 homologation making it suitable for both road and track use.

The Pista GP R shell is structurally identical to the FIM-homologated RR: carbon fiber hand-laid and autoclave-cured, exactly like the helmets worn in MotoGP.
190° Ultravision
The optical class 1 visor covers 190° horizontally and 85° vertically. In a tucked position on the tank, you have a perfect view of the track ahead without having to lift your head.
Active IVS ventilation

What is the difference between the Pista GP R and the Pista GP RR?+

Both helmets share the same carbon shell and aerodynamics. The difference lies in the certification: the RR is FIM Racing homologated, essential for racing in MotoGP or WSBK, and includes 5 EPS densities and a hydration tube. The GP R, ECE 22.06 certified, is road-legal and perfectly suited for non-timed track days. For track day use, they are almost equivalent.

Can it be used daily on the road?+

Technically yes, it is ECE 22.06 homologated. However, its very racing-oriented build—firm padding, field of vision optimized for a tucked position, lack of an intermediate visor position—makes it less comfortable for daily commutes. It truly comes into its own once you step onto a track.

Are the Winter Test graphics painted or adhesive?+

They are high-strength adhesive films that are applied and then lacquered, exactly like the real racing helmets. Durability is very good as long as you avoid abrasive or solvent-based cleaning products.

Can a Bluetooth intercom be installed?+

It is strongly discouraged. The EPS liner does not have any space for speakers, and the cheek pads are very firm. In practice, inserting headphones creates painful pressure points as soon as the helmet is properly secured.
